As a leading national provider of specialist independent living services, including learning disability supported living, we’ve put together some quick questions we’re commonly asked by existing and prospective tenants. We hope this helps give an insight into how we work, what we do and how we can benefit you or your loved one, enabling independent living for everyone.
What is specialist independent living?
It’s a type of independent living where you’ll have as much – or as little – support as you need to live a fulfilling, independent life.
What are the benefits of specialist independent living?
The service is often recommended for those who might have been living with friends and family, and want to adjust to living fully independently. Equally, it’s sometimes a first-stop for someone who may need independent living support, to some degree, throughout their life. The level of support provided can be adjusted to your individual needs.
How can you tailor the service to me?
There are a variety of ways we can do this. In some situations, we recognise that a tenant might want to share their accommodation and have a sense of community, and can house those with similar needs together. For those who want to live alone, we can offer adaptations to your home to allow you to live as independently as possible. This is especially beneficial for those who may need learning disability supported living.
How much support will I get?
This is really unique to each individual. Our team can help with day-to-day tasks if needed, such as personal care or housework. They can also carry out, or accompany you, with tasks such as shopping.
Who is in charge of my care?
We work with local landlords, local authorities and other partners to provide a range of services. We’ll be able to advise you on who to contact for a specific aspect of your care if you get in touch.
What if supported living doesn’t work out for me?
We recognise that circumstances and needs can change. We’ll always do our best to be flexible with our tenants and make any necessary changes to your care requirements or any adaptations you need around the house. If you need support with this, please contact us.
