At Falcon Housing Association C.I.C (FHA), we want to be here for our specialist supported living tenants to assist with independent living where we can. You may have noticed we’ve been posting more throughout the coronavirus covid-19 global pandemic. In our latest blog, we wanted to share some tips for staying safe as the outbreak continues to gather pace.
1) Follow hand-washing guidelines
The NHS has been keen to set out guidelines to ensure people are handwashing correctly and effectively. This means using antibacterial soap, clean water and washing hands for at least 20 seconds. You can also use hand sanitiser when out and about, for instance if you’ve visited the supermarket.
2) Keep surroundings clean
Using sanitiser on surfaces could help the spread of the virus, as it has been known to survive outside the body. Cleaning regularly and thoroughly if you’re able to is a good idea, especially if you have recently had visitors.
3) Keep an eye on your health
Coughing, fever, tiredness and shortness of breath are all signs of coronavirus. If you have these or feel generally unwell, please follow the latest government advice.
4) Self-isolate if possible
We want to support those with independent living – whatever your background, age, or condition – so that whatever you need, you have the help required. The most recent government advice is to self-isolate, however, there are exceptions. Again, please see the most up-to-date government advice on this.
5) Limit daily exercise
It’s currently permitted to have one form of outdoor exercise each day, such as a short walk, run or cycle. Exercise has enormous health benefits both mentally and physically.
And finally, …
Whatever you need, our dedicated team here at FHA, are here to help. While we may be experiencing more calls than usual during this time, we’re doing our best to continue the same high levels of service delivery we’re known for. We also have a series of other blogs on the outbreak that go into more detail about areas you may be concerned about, such as managing maintenance and compliance within your specialist supported property. Whatever it is, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
